bike ride to Renningers extravaganza/K-town flashbacks

first things first, new"ish" spot, they redid it and made it 100% skateable. wall to wall carves, get some.

set the alarm early to get an early start on ride. (Emmaus to Kutztown) not far by any means but I wanted to get to Renningers early and enjoy the back roads without any traffic

'
made a map at work that I ended up not needing

pulling out of the driveway at 6 am

300 yards in and I'm reminded why I like to leave early

looking back at the train (hard to see but it's on the left) that I got to blow it's whistle by giving the double arm pump to the engineer when he waved

haha. there would always be kids playing hockey when we'd drive by here. we'd beep and they'd all look and then we'd yell "Fuck you!" and give them the finger. that never got old.

all these houses have aluminum siding on them because in 1999 a tornado came through and ripped all the original walls off. I was out of school by then but I went through town a few weeks after it happended and it was gnarly. you could literally see the path the tornado took.

home stretch. if you enlarge the pic you can see the Old Main clock tower. (it's the white thing to right of the electrical tower on the left side of pic)

made it.

I was meeting Dave and Kim here but they were coming from Philly and were just leaving when I got there so to kill some time I took a leisurely ride through my alma mater. I added some old pics from "back then" as well. Here's 56 Noble St. where I lived during my sophomore and junior year.

here's Ron, Brian and me on the same stoop in 1997. (if it looks distorted it's cuz it's a pic of a pic.) Judging by my coif, this must've been from when I went into Salon Joey's and said "Gimme the Asshole."

my room, second floor, 3rd window from the left. this is where absolutely no magic happened.

this house is right across the street. they had a trampoline in their yard that we'd jump around on with skateboard decks. Chuck threw a flaming couch off that 2nd floor porch. If I remember corrrectly, the Kutztown police department frowned upon that action.

169 W. Main St. Chris and I had the 3rd floor my senior year. some combination of Andrew, Gassler, Adam, Marnie, Nate, Ray, Julie and probably some other people inhabitated the first floor at various times.

here a some random snaps from 169 from when we lived there.
we'd play football once a year and it became a tradition to smash something on the way home from the field.

I think this was Adam's birthday.

the 169 prom

Chadwick E. Fehr was known to drop by from time to time.

straight edge

back to modern times

the Kutztown Airport!

Alpha Beta

the Tri-County 6 saw some monumental sessions. before they put the handrail in you could grind the ledge down the side. fun.

freshman year Chris and I lived here. room 428. I talked to 2 people other than Chris in this dorm. we were always hanging out with Brian and Nate in Beck.

great spot

the 5:30 club in the Cliffs. Ronny, Chris, Dan, Kevin (and probably others I'm forgetting hosted shows here)

here's a flyer and pics from a show they put on

Andy, Matt and Jamie

Chris, Julie? and Danger Zone...haha.

Me, Ron and Marnie

Once Dave showed up it was off the flea market

haha

Nigro got a heads up picture message but when I sent the price he said they were ludicrous

took this pic to hopefully motivate Brian to finish his and to show him some color options

vinyl

headed outside of town to check out some other flea markets

then I took Dave and Kim the quarry

Kim opted to brave the high seas in a boat someone conveniently left there

bravo to Kimberly for the lowdown on sandwiches from Wanamaker's. Picnic on Cemetary Hill...F-yeah. first time I was off my feet since 5 am.

then it was off to the top secret Red Barn

stellar day indeed
