fireworks/bike ride to Stacey's shower/Floorpunch/Hickory Run revisited

Snotrag gave me the heads up on some fireworks after the Phillies game a few weeks ago. with the stadium being just 10 blocks away from my place, attendance was a no brainer. we posted up about 50 yards from where they were lighting 'em off. great views were had.

here you can see how close we were from the action

the Moyers enjoying the show

Stacey was having a bridal shower/party type thing on saturday. at 3:00 it was open to the dudes as well. since Chris and I were going to the Floorpunch show up by Scranton saturday night and he lives just a few miles from Stacey, I figured I'd bike over to the party, then to Chris's, and then just ride home Sunday whenever we got back from the show. Here are my maps/cheat sheets for getting to Stacey's from south philly.

damn, once you cross Broad on Shunk the houses get super nice. I bet the people that live here don't see their neighbors beating their kids on their stoop like I do. what a difference 8 block makes.

crossing the river on Passyunk

spot check

about to cross 476. almost there.

made it to Broomall. homestretch.

"Stop Stacey's Shower"

the party was in full swing

off the the Van Pollard's. Addison was enjoying dessert.

probably the most disgustingly photogenic family

the ladies were off for a walk while Chris and I were off to the show.

Chris just got the interior reupholstered. lookin' good.

Chris fuels up for the mosh.

as usual, texts were exchanged to pass the time.

I hadn't been this far north in PA for a long time. beautiful country up there. this pic sucks. the sunset did not.

we were still a good hour and a half away when we got word that the show had to be over by 9:30. it goes without saying that this information would've been much more appreciated had we received it yesterday.

we made it in time to catch the last 4.5 songs. great set. FP always delivers. oh, and I ended up with the Floorpunch yamaka.

after shooting the shit and catching up with the NJ crew we went to Chris's dad's cabin to spend the night.

the party was already in full swing when we arrived!

the following morning Chris embarked on a wildlife photography tour in the backyard

on the to-do list for the morning was to stake out the property line for his dad. we had the deed with the coordinates AND a mapmaker. easy enough right?

on second thought

anybody have a T-square?

french toast stuffed with strawberry cream cheese and bananas with brown sugar syrup tastes awful. no really, it does.

after breakfast we headed to Hawk Falls and retraced the route of a memorable camping excursion we did in 1993. (hint: all the black and white photos are from 1993. I snapped them from Chris's album when we got back to his house). here's the firehall we had breakfast at back then.

Hawk Falls

Jeremy under the falls trying to find Aaron's glasses. I bet they're still there.

the lower rocks in the upper left were the ones we jumped off of in '93

Chris pointing out the exact spot we leapt from. (before you call us pussies, the pool below the waterfall was too shallow to jump into)

a young Johnny Pops takes the plunge

the next two are yours truly

the lower rock ledge is where Chris and Jeremy got busy

Chris (210?)

great form on Jer's sailor's dive

the hike out. note Jer's Umbros. he never left home without them.

inevitably the memories overtook us and we felt it necessary to take a moment and reflect upon those special moments of yesteryear.

some more snaps from Chris's photo album. John, Jeremy and myself tending the fire on the same trip. veggie burger technology was pretty primitive in 1993.

Team Metal. our highschool volleyball team. Here's me and Malek. sup bro?

Aaron went all out with the spandex

Brian P-tits

Jeremy takes the leap of faith on a different highschool camping excursion

Chadwick E. Fehr. Senior Week 94. Ocean Voyager.

Wurzelbacher was a hit with the ladies. must of been 'cuz he was such a cool dude.

Jeremy, me, Brian, Jeremy and Matt set up for some late night cow football on the beach

back on 2 wheels it was time to head home. I tried a different route and got screwed up so I tagged along with these 2 til I got my bearings. once the skyline came into view we parted ways.

back to the city

thanks to Chris for driving and the A-town Crew for maintaining our rep on the dancefloor. great fuckin' weekend.
